Fat lava floor vase, vintage W-Germany, Ilkra Edel Keramik model number 2005-30, c early 1970s.
Handled vase form with mottled grey body and darker grey trails of glaze.
Probably inspired by the increasing imagery of sound- and radio waves which was a popular motif of the early 1970s music scene.
In a field where many ceramics are vibrant and loud, this Ilkra decor has been treated with monochromatic restraint, but still captures the spirit of the moment.
Fully glazed interior. Stamped on base. 2005-30, W-Germany.
Geometric high relief.
